When Sick
Sickness is universal. It entered the world when Adam fell into sin. Actually three notable things crept into the once pure humanity and sublime earth at the fall of mankind Genesis 2:8-16) First, man became a sinner. Inherently, humanity was corrupted with the moral weakness that perpetually made the prone to commit trespasses against the righteous standards and boundaries of God. Second, Death was the natural outgrowth of Sin. God had clearly stipulated that the time Adam and Eve would sin; they would be allowing the phenomenon known as Death. Death is philosophically and physiological separation of one entity from another. In this sense Death is a separation of Man from God, spiritually first, and separation of man from his immediate environment second. Third, evil spirits who have a craving desire to influence mankind started their work. Evil spirits, which are also known as demons, vex humanity with various physiological, psychological and spiritual afflictions. Fourth, Diseases entered into the picture. The earth ceased to pure; therefore disease which is a result of imperfect environment subdued humanity.
The good news however is that the God, who is gracious, provided permanent solutions to all the three challenges that entered the earth with the fall of mankind. For Sin, God provided salvation through the death of Jesus as the permanent solution to the question of Sin. Positionally, God controlled the work of the devil and his cohorts, demons, in that he has a permanent judgment for them and also that he has given the believer s the ability to defeat them through the power vested in the Word of God. Apart from God-given wisdom and creativity to find remedies within the earth's environment, God introduced' within the system of the faithful an ability to be healed supernaturally. Here are the following scriptures you can use when seeking for healing:
Gal 3:13...........Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us...
1Pet 2:24..........He bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness -- by whose stripes you were healed.
Isa 53:5............He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Mt 8:17............He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.
Ps 107:20.........He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their Destructions.
Prov 3:7...........Do not be wise in your own eyes: fear the Lord and depart from evil.
Prov 3:8...........It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.
Ex 15:26..........I am the Lord who heals you.
Ps 103:3...........Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases...
Ex 23:25..........Serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.
Prov 16:24........Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
Isa 58:8.............your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
Ps 118:17..........I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.
Ps 147:3...........He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Prov 17:22........A merry heart does good, like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.
So, what to do if you are Sick?:
1- Do not get impatient, trust in the Lord... always trust in God, in Jesus.
2- Pray to the Lord, and He shall heal you! (Eph.5:20, 1Thes.5:16-18).
3- Call the elders of the Church, and let them pray over you, and anoint you with oil in the name of the Lord...and the prayer of faith will make you well and will rise you up! That's a big promise of Jam.5:15, alleluia!
4- Make a good Confession of Sins: Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." (Jam.5:16) Confess all your sins, but most specially the sins of rancor, resentment, hatred, grudge... because if we don't forgive others, we can't even pray the Our Father where we ask God to forgive us the way we forgive others (Mat.6:12-15).
