Dallas to host Women in Ministry conference

The Network for Women in Ministry and the Assemblies of God Executive Leadership is holding their biennial conference for women in ministry. The event takes place September 29 to October 1, 2010, in Dallas, Texas, and is open to female ministers, pastors' wives and women preparing for ministry.

Thirty years ago, a missionary visited Manny Ohonme's community in Nigeria and gave him a pair of shoes. Because of those shoes, Ohonme later received a scholarship to play basketball. This experience led he and his wife to begin Samaritan's Feet, an organization that sends shoes around the world.

2010 Bike for the Light tour reaches halfway mark

Johnny Kelley is currently on his second Bike for the Light Tour to raise money for Speed the Light. More than halfway done with tour, which will end at National Fine Arts in Detroit, Kelley has traveled close to 8,000 miles across America and is encouraging others to get involved with missions.

Ministry school fulfills needed student niche

The New York District School of Ministry started with only 30 students in 2008, but more than 275 people enrolled last year. The school offers a minimum of 24 courses that meet requirements for the three levels of AG ministerial credentialing.

Grants awarded to study Pentecostals, charismatics

The Center for Religion and Civic Culture at the University of Southern California is funding research in 23 countries on charismatic and Pentecostal Christianity. Grants totaling $3.5 million are being awarded to five centers and another 16 scholar teams to conduct research in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the former Soviet Union.

AG pastor and church blessed by God's provision

A year and a half ago, Maypearl (Texas) First AG needed a new piano — prayers were answered and a piano was given to them. About nine months ago, the church needed another blessing when it came to their offering for a special project, and the money was provided. The real miracle occurred when the church was looking to build, and God provided the church a new building at minimum cost.

Alliance provides training for key college faculty

More than 150 key Assemblies of God college faculty leaders gathered on the campus of Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, for the 2010 AG Faculty Seminar, presented by the Alliance for AG Higher Education. A key part of the training concerned technology in the classroom.

Ruling: Christian groups must allow homosexual members

Pastor bikes across Nebraska for fundraiser

John Morse, pastor of Good Shepherd Church (AG), Owensboro, Kentucky, biked 450 miles across Nebraska in seven days to raise money for a missions trip. The money collected will be used to build a church in Peru.

River of Life Fellowship wins JBQ national title

Center for the Blind now offers "Daniel in the Lions' Den"

A new Kid's Kit, "Daniel in the Lion's Den," has been added to the AG Center for the Blind library. Interactive toy lions have also been added to the kit to help enhance the story. Three more Kid's Kits will be added this year to the CftB library.
